The Big Bend National Park is located in the Chihuahuan Desert in West Texas along the Mexican border near Alpine city. This park in U.S.A is famous for its beautiful flatlands, mesmerizing mountains, relaxing canyons, and an incredible dessert.

Big Bend National Park was established in June 1994 and is spread over 801,163 acres of land that has geographical edifices dating back millions of years ago.

The vegetarian stretch along the Rio Grande Canyon, the breathtaking peaks of the Chisos Mountains, the vastness of the Chihuahuan Desert, the limestone outcrops of Persimmon Gap, and the calm Boquillas Canyon will make you feel wonderful. The park is home for 1,2000 species of plants.

As there are 450 species of birds, you can have an amusing birdwatching day. There are also chances of encountering rabbits, mule deer, coyotes, and even rattlesnakes. Around 75 species of mammals and 56 species of reptiles are there.

Besides Hiking, scenic drives, biking, fishing, and river trips there is also an interesting activity of stargazing which will surely make you feel relaxed at night under the sky.

March to May

Spring will be the best season to visit as its humidity and temperatures merge to make you feel warm. The temperature ranges from 22.4°C to 35.3°C.

September to November

The fall season is cooler with temperature ranging from 18.7°C to 32.6°C, the rainfall and snowfall happen at normal amount like 1 to 4 days per month. You can get low-cost accommodation due to the weather as tourism is fairly slow.

Tips Before Visiting

  • You can regarding the activities that are going to happen from the visitor centre.
  • See to it that you don’t run out of fuel.
  • Dogs are only allowed in some places and they should have a leash.
  • There are only four campsites in the park, however, there are camping options outside the park also. Some campgrounds require advance reservations while some are given on first-come, first-served basis.
  • Be aware of bears.
  • Please maintain the cleanliness of the park.
