All About Kenai Fjords National Park

March to May and June to September

In the spring season, you can get to see elegant California grey whales migrating Alaska.

The temperature will be refreshingly cold in June to September which will make you feel amazing while playing the winter sports. There will be limited to average rainfall.

Things to carry

Here are the things to carry while visiting Kenai Fjords National Park.

Clothing 

Carry warm layered fleece or wool clothing, a hat, mittens, extra socks for the winter season and a rain jacket for the rainy season.

Flashlight or Headlamp

Very useful in darkness from July to September.

Hydration Park

Stay hydrated by carrying a hydration pack or one-quart water bottle.

Shoes

To protect from insects, water and brush, you can wear boot gaiters.

Along with the above items, you should also carry insect repellent, sunglasses, sunscreen, binoculars, hiking poles, camera, and a first aid kit.

Tips before Visiting

  • Weather conditions changes dynamically, so come prepared for any kind of weather.
  • The road to exit glacier is open from May to October; until the first snowfall occurs in the month of October.
  • You can’t cook food on an open fire. Open fire is not allowed in the park.
  • Cow Parsnip can cause allergic reactions. Please don’t eat any food randomly unless you know that they will not hamper your health.
  • Walk safely when the steep is wet or covered in snow.
